Following the Sherpa and Finance track meetings held in Brasília in December—opening Brazil's Group of Twenty presidency—working group (WG) and task force (TF) meetings will begin on January 17. These first meetings are going to align the Brazilian presidency’s objectives with the central topics that make up each group’s agenda. They will also present the representatives of the countries and unions that are members of each group.

Altogether, 33 video conference working group and task force meetings will be held between January and February, in Brasília, at a venue that was specially designed to harbor the Brazilian G20 presidency’s activities.

The WGs that will meet in January are the following: Global Economy; Women's Empowerment; Development; Global Financial Architecture; Trade and Investments; Climate and Environmental Sustainability; and Digital Economy. The following WGs are going to meet in February: Infrastructure; Sustainable Finance; Education; Research & Innovation; Agriculture; Energy Transitions; Employment; Health; Risk and Disaster Reduction; and Tourism.

The task forces that are going to meet in February are Finance and Health and Combating Hunger and Poverty.

Ministerial or vice-ministerial level in-person meetings will be back on the agenda as of February 21. Three meetings will be held: of chancellors, in Rio de Janeiro, on February 21 and 22; of finance and central bank deputies on February 26 and 27; and ministerial finance and central bank meetings on February 28 and 29—these two in São Paulo (SP). The meeting of chancellors is part of the Sherpa Track work; the other two belong to the Finance Track.

The discussions will continue until the final summit, in Rio de Janeiro, on November 18 and 19, with member countries’ heads of State and government. This is when the topics that were discussed and developed throughout the year will be submitted for the international economic cooperation forum’s approval.
