São Paulo’s Youth Press carries out exclusive interview with Russian Finance Minister

If for many journalists this possibility was not even considered, the young reporters from São Paulo public schools were ambitious in their objectives and questions. “What are your hopes and concerns for the global future?” This is the question with which young reporter Pedro Freire (from CIELP Pirituba-Jaguará) began interviewing Russian minister Anton Siluanov.

In the world of journalism, landing an exclusive interview—especially with prominent international authorities—is usually what reporters desire the most. During the Meeting of Finance Ministers and Central Bank Presidents on February 28 and 29, in São Paulo, many tried to, but not everyone succeeded. Among those who did get the opportunity to carry out interviews were the Youth Press [Imprensa Jovem] reporters who privately interviewed Russian Finance Minister Anton.

“What are your hopes and concerns for the global future?” This is the question with which young reporter Pedro Freire (from CIELP Pirituba-Jaguará) began interviewing Russian minister Anton Siluanov. You can watch the interview in full in the link below.

“It was a unique experience to explore fascinating topics such as the inclusion of youth in global discussions, and the direct impact of G20 decisions on local communities. One of the most exciting moments was interacting with important people and realizing that students' voices, through our questions, were being echoed across the event,” said Winnie Stefanie, a 17-year-old student who took part in the coverage.

Imprensa Jovem is an edu-communication project belonging to the City of São Paulo’s Department of Education. The Department recently established a partnership with G20 Brasil communications to cover the forum’s events in the city and produce content all along Brazil’s presidency. The project is recognized worldwide by UNESCO and includes around 385 teams in the city.
