SOCIAL PARTICIPATION

Parliament (P20)

Established in 2010, the P20 group operates under the guidance of the presidents of the parliamentary bodies representing the G20 countries. Its principal objective is to actively engage parliamentary institutions in fostering global collaboration and facilitate the efficacious execution of international agreements within the G20 member countries.

About the P20

Given the pivotal role parliamentarians play in directing their governments, the P20 serves as a robust and distinctive platform for G20 country parliaments to actively contribute to global issue deliberations. Its objectives include fostering interparliamentary cooperation and enhancing engagement among governments, parliaments, and other stakeholders to implement various G20 outcomes effectively.

Parliaments, comprising diverse perspectives and expertise, possess the capacity to develop innovative solutions to contemporary challenges through collaborative idea exchange. The Brazilian presidency aims to guide the group's activities over the year with this strategic approach.

As the participation of women in politics continues to grow and becomes increasingly necessary, there are plans to convene a meeting of female parliamentarians in Brasil in 2024. The objective is to further explore gender-related agendas, mirroring the initiative taken by the Indian presidency.
