Jakarta, 20 April 2022 – Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy (MOTCE) promotes various creative economy products during the launching of the tourism and creative economy side events at the G20 Indonesia in 2022. Among them are the musical instrument ‘tifa’ and the wooden watch ‘Pala Nusantara’ made by young people from Bandung.
Tifa becomes an instrument to mark the inauguration of the G20 side events launching.
Tifa is a traditional musical instrument typical of Eastern Indonesia, especially Maluku and Papua. Its shape is similar to ‘kendang’ and is made of wood with a hole in the middle
Tifa is similar to kendang or drum instrument that is played by hitting it. This musical instrument is made of a piece of wood which the inside part is emptied, and on one of its side ends is covered, usually by using dried leather to produce beautiful sounds. The shape is usually decorated with carvings.
According to Menparekraf Sandiaga, the musical instrument tifa was presented at the G20 side events launching to introduce and promote traditional Indonesian musical instrument.
“Tifa is presented at the G20 side events launching. It is expected that the G20 delegates who attend here will be able to get to know this traditional Indonesian musical instrument with these characteristics,” according to Menparekraf Sandiaga Uno at the Indonesia Kempinski Hotel, Wednesday (20/4/2022).
In addition, there is also a wooden watch ‘Pala Nusantara’ made by young people from Bandung, West Java. This watch was specially ordered by the MOTCE to be used as a souvenir for the delegates who attended the G20 side events launching. This watch is unique as a souvenir because every corner of its design is inspired by Indonesia’s folktales.
