Working Group will discuss adapting infrastructure to climate change and poverty reduction

The 3rd meeting of the Infrastructure Working Group begins on Wednesday (26th) in Foz do Iguaçu, in the Brazilian state of Paraná. The agenda will address the resilience of infrastructure to climate change and its role in poverty mitigation in addition to risk reduction in financing and resource mobilization for cross-border projects.

Additionally, the Inter-American Development Bank/IDB (Banco Interamericano de Desenvolvimento) will promote a side event to discuss challenges and opportunities in natural infrastructure management and funding. The side event will be broadcast on YouTube.

The Working Group has been addressing strategies to increase resources for infrastructure and sustainable development, with special attention to cities and the challenges resulting from climate change and the energy transition. The focus is on making infrastructure more resilient and inclusive, mobilizing resources from different sources, especially for developing and more vulnerable countries.

The Infrastructure WG is part of the Finance Track. The debate in Foz do Iguaçu will continue the discussions on topics proposed by the Brazilian presidency of the G20. Representatives of G20 member countries and guest countries, the European Union, the African Union, and representatives of international organizations are expected to take part in the meeting.
