Engagement Groups

The G20 engagement groups are representatives of different civil society stakeholders from the G20 states. They represent the scientific and research community, the private sector and trade unions, women and young people, and non-governmental organizations. They meet in tandem with the G20 and keep up a dialogue with policymakers.

Each engagement group is presided by organizations or individuals formally designated by the sherpa of the G20 president country.

An engagement group meets to discuss the important issues affecting its area of interest and drafts recommendations to the G20 to reflect its position. While these recommendations are non-binding, they are considered by the G20 for its discussions and negotiations, and contribute to the policymaking process.
